ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team dropped to 3-3 in CCIW play with a 9-0 loss to Augustana College.
Lauren Goggin and Mollie Magee registered the first point of the day for the Vikings with an 8-1 victory over
Chiara Gaudio and
Hannah Vaselaney at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Madeline Lombardi and Cailtyn Schaffer defeated Camile Knapik-Balch and
Katelyn LoRusso 8-2. Augustana wrapped up the sweep with an 8-4 victory at No. 1 from Ali McDonald and Dana Goggin over
Ava Kolman and
Rachel Rettger.
The bottom of Augustana's singles lineup provided the clinch as Vicki Andonova beat Knapik-Balch 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 and Schaffer won over
Tori Liewergen 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5. Dana Goggin (6-0, 6-0 over Gaudio and MacDonald 6-0, 6-0 over Vaselaney, extended the Vikings' advantage. Augustana wrapped up the win with a 6-2, 6-3 from Magee over Rettger at No. 3 and a 6-4, 6-2 victory from Lauren Goggin over Kolman.
Elmhurst travels to Carthage College for another CCIW match this Friday, October 16.
