ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst wrestling team dropped a 21-18 decision to Concordia University (Wis.) on senior day. 

The Bluejays drop to 4-3 on the year, while the Falcons improve to 3-1.
 

Elmhurst won four of the first five bouts to gain a 13-3 lead. Anthony Munoz gave the Bluejays a 3-0 lead with an 8-4 decision victory over Max Reiderer. Concordia's seventh-ranked Sean Ambrocio knotted the score at three by taking a 7-2 decision over Carter Beebe. 

Elmhurst took control by winning the next three bouts. Matt Quigley, a senior in his last dual meet at home, defeated Josh Curcio 5-3, helping Elmhurst retake the lead. Blake Santi followed with a 12-3 major decision win over Quinton Lueck and Nick Dinardo stretched the Bluejay advantage to 13-3 with a 7-2 victory over Pierce Holtfreter. 
 

Concordia took their first lead by winning four straight bouts. With the score knotted at zero in the first period during the 165-pound bout, Alex Maynard had to stop the bout due to an injury. He continued to wrestle, but was unable to finish the bout, falling to Casey Kenealy by medical forfeit. Concordia pulled within one point of Elmhurst when Mason Mergener narrowly defeated Mitch Morris 6-5 at 174 pounds. The Falcons took their first lead (18-13) when Mason Baumgartner pinned Bobby Schillinger with 40 seconds remaining in the first period. Jake Reuteler extended that lead to 21-13, clinching the dual for Concordia with an 11-4 win by decision at 197 pounds. 

Elmhurst's Zack Urbanski finished the dual by dominating Paul Carter at 285 pounds, winning by technical fall 19-3.

Maxx Lozano, 4-4 on the season, was also honored during the senior day festivities, but did not wrestle.

Elmhurst hosts the Al Hanke Invitiational January 17.
