DECATUR, Ill. – Kyle Wuest scored 29 points to lead the Elmhurst men's basketball team to a 74-60 road victory over Millikin University.
Elmhurst (12-2, 2-1 CCIW) led from wire-to-wire, grabbing the lead just seconds into the contest on a
Will Nixon bucket and never trailing for the rest of the contest. Millikin (6-8, 1-2 CCIW) pulled to within a point on a pair of occasions in the opening half, but Elmhurst carried a 33-28 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Peyton Wyatt, gave Elmhurst a 48-34 edge just seven minutes into the half. Millikin came no closer than a 10-point deficit for the remainder of the contest as Elmhurst led by as many as 16 points before closing out the contest with a 74-60 victory.
Elmhurst shot 42.9 percent from the floor (21-of-49), including 52.4 percent (11-of-21) in the second half when the team pulled away. The Bluejays hit 7-of-17 shots from beyond the arc (41.2 percent) and converted 25-of-31 attempts from the foul line (80.6 percent). The Bluejays also controlled the glass, outrebounding Millikin 37-26.
Wuest powered Elmhurst's attack, scoring a game-high 29 points, his second-highest point total of the season. He shot 7-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from downtown. Wuest also hit 11-of-13 attempts from the foul line.
Erik Crittenden came off the bench and finished one rebound shy of a double-double, totaling 13 points and nine rebounds. Nixon added 11 points and eight rebounds while
Bryant Ackerman totaled eight points and five boards.
Millikin shot 40.8 percent (20-of-49) from the floor, but just 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from downtown. TJ Griffin accounted for nearly half of the Big Blue's points, scoring 26 points on a 9-of-15 shooting performance. He added a game-high five steals in the victory. Jacob Kuecker and Nathan Biggs chipped in with six points apiece in the loss.
Elmhurst continues CCIW play on Wednesday, January 14, by hosting Carthage College at 7:00 p.m.
