Women's Tennis Drops Home Opener

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to the Carthage College Lady Reds at the Brune Tennis Courts. 

Carthage (6-0, 4-0 CCIW) took all three doubles contests to take a 3-0 lead. The Lady Reds' No. 1 team of Haleigh McPeek and Maxine Mella edged the Bluejays' Nicole Darga and Annie Duggan 8-6. Carthage took the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by idenical 8-2 scores. Abbi Howell and Eliza Barter beat Brittany Kuehn and Hannah Vaselaney at No. 2, while Kristen Kalinka and Taylor Bolyard won over Lauren Kuehn and Alexis Adams at No. 3.

In singles play, Elmhurst's Darga fell to McPeek 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 position, Duggan lost to Mella 6-1, 6-2, while B. Kuehn dropped a decision to Howell by the same score at No. 3. Vaselaney took a 6-0, 6-0 loss at the hands of Barter at No. 4 singles and L. Kuehn was outlasted by Bolyard 6-0, 6-1. Adams wrapped up singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Kirsten Peterson at No. 6 singles. 

Elmhurst looks for their first conference win this Friday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. when they host North Park University at the Brune Tennis Courts.
