Eric Stevenson tripled home a run and then scored on a
Travis Pickard sacrifice fly in the fourth to give Elmhurst a 4-3 lead.
Luke Collins and Pickard both smacked two-run doubles in the fifth to spark a four run outburst for the Bluejays.
Wheaton (14-9, 4-5 CCIW) evened the score in the eighth with five runs. The Thunder sent 11 batters to the plate and tied the game on a John Jensen-Johnson two-run double. The Thunder loaded the bases but
Erik Swanson induced Johnny Peltz to fly out to end the inning.
Elmhurst pulled back in front with two runs in the 10th.
Brandon Kressner drew a leadoff walk and moved to third on a single from Stevenson. After Stevenson took second on a wild pitch, Compton singled up the middle to drive in both runners and put Elmhurst back in front.
Compton and Struck totaled three hits apiece to lead the Bluejays in the win. Compton and Collins drove in two runs each while Pickard totaled a team-leading three RBI.
Matt Schappel and Jensen-Johnson led the Thunder with three hits apiece. Jensen-Johnson led the squad with three runs driven in.
Ivan Nevarez made the start for Elmhurst and earned a no-decision, scattering 11 hits, four walks and five earned runs in seven innings of work.
Brennan McClung earned the win in relief for the Bluejays, allowing just one walk in 1.1 innings pitched.
Elmhurst plays at Benedictine University tomorrow (April 10).
