Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team had its three-game winning streak snapped in an 8-3 loss at the University of Chicago.
Chicago (7-20) raced out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first and tacked on three runs in the fourth to open up a five-run cushion.
Elmhurst (11-18) scored a run in the fifth on 
Tyler Wargo's RBI single, but the Maroons piled on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh on a Kevin Tully RBI single.
The Bluejays pulled to within four runs in the eighth after 
Dave Wolak singled, took second on a wild pitch, stole third and then scored on another wild pitch.
Chicago extended its lead to six with two runs in the bottom of the eighth on four singles. A pair of Chicago errors in the ninth led to the Bluejays' final run of the game.
Ben Havel recorded two of Elmhurst's six hits in the loss. Rick Troncelliti paced Chicago with four hits while Andrew VanWazer singled three times and scored three runs.
Jeff Guzzi (2-2) made the start for Elmhurst and took the loss. Guzzi allowed nine hits and five runs (just one earned) while walking two and striking out one. Anthony DeRenzo recorded the win for Chicago, tossing 7.1 innings and allowing six hits, five walks and two runs while fanning four.
Elmhurst hosts Rockford College tomorrow (April 23) at 3:00 p.m.
