Hanlon & Millan Lead Bluejays To Sweep of Carthage

singled to lead off the frame and Stevenson collected his third RBI of the day by ripping a single down the right field line to drive in Struck. The throw to the plate sailed wide, allowing Collins to score and Stevenson to take second on the play. Chris Fisher then knocked home Stevenson with a single to shallow center field, putting Elmhurst up 3-0 in the process.

Carthage scored its only run of the game in the third after Graham Wick doubled to lead off the inning and scored two batters later on Matt Richer's RBI ground out.

The Bluejays tacked on two runs in the third on an RBI single from Zach Tsiodras and a sacrifice fly from Struck. Elmhurst scored its final runs of the game in the fourth on Dave Wolak's two-run double to right field.

Fisher led the Bluejays at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance. Wolak collected two hits and drove in two runs while Havel added two more hits to finish with seven on the day. Stevenson recorded two hits, scored two runs and also drove in a run.

Carthage (14-13, 6-8 CCIW) struggled to generate any offense against Millan for most of the contest. After giving up back-to-back hits to start the third, Millan retired the next 13 batters before a Carthage single in the seventh inning. Millan scattered just seven hits and one earned run while striking out five and not issuing a walk. He improved to 2-2 on the season with the win.

Josh Daniels took the loss for Carthage, allowing seven hits and six runs (five earned) in three innnings of work. He walked one and fanned one.

Elmhurst will try to finish the three-game series sweep when they travel to Carthage tomorrow (April 19).
