Baseball Team Falls 9-3 at Benedictine

Box Score LISLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team fell to 6-15 on the season after dropping a 9-3 contest at Benedictine University.

Elmhurst scored the first two runs of the game, but Benedictine (9-10) scored at least one run over the game's first six innings while opening up an 8-2 lead and pulling away for the six-run victory.

The Bluejays struck first as RBI singles from Dave Wolak and Zach Tsiodras staked Elmhurst to a quick 2-0 lead in the first. The Bluejays' lead was short lived as Mike Luschen roped a two-run double in the bottom of the first to even the score.

The Eagles went on top 3-2 in the second on Nicholas Fillmore's RBI single. A wild pitch scored a run for Benedictine in the third to give the Eagles a 4-2 cushion.

Benedictine tacked on two runs in the fourth, a run in the fifth and another run in the sixth to open up an 8-2 lead. Ben Havel drove in Brandon Kressner with an RBI double in the top of the eighth to account for Elmhurst's final run.

Wolak led Elmhurst's offense by collecting three of the Bluejays' nine hits.

Adam Price made the start and took the loss for Elmhurst, allowing five hits and six runs over 3.1 innings. Price walked four and struck out one. Benedictine's Ty Anderson earned the win, working 6.2 innings and allowing just seven hits and two earned runs. Anderson walked one and fanned four in the win.

Elmhurst hosts North Central College on Friday, April 11.
