ORLANDO, Fla. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team slipped to 4-6 on the season after suffering an 8-1 loss to Calvin College in Orlando.
Calvin swept the three doubles matches with Megan Visser and Claire Spoelhof defeating
Nicole Darga and
Cassie Kovach 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, Bethan Zoerhof and Ellie Benzel toppling
Hannah Vaselaney and
Ragan Wilson 8-2 and Liz Turner and Courtney Selvius defeating
Jennifer Guenther and
Savannah Schillinger 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play Visser defeated Kovach 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Elmhurst scored its only point of the day at No. 2 singles when Darga downed Spoelhof 6-1, 6-1. Zoerhof edged Wilson in three sets (3-6, 7-6, 6-3) at No. 3 singles while Benzel toppled
Lauren Kuehn 6-0, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Turner handed
Brittany Kuehn a 6-3, 6-3 loss at No. 5 singles while Selvius defeated Vaselaney 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst faces Luther College on Wednesday, March 26.
