ELMHURST, Ill. – Mikaela Eppard recorded a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Elmhurst women's basketball team to a 69-59 victory over Beloit College.

The win snapped a three-game slide for the Bluejays as Elmhurst improved to 4-3 on the season.

Mikaela EppardElmhurst struggled out of the gate as poor shooting and mounting turnovers found the Bluejays trailing 12-8 with 11 minutes remaining in the opening half. Elmhurst endured an eight-minute stretch without a point, but Beloit (3-4) managed just six points in that stretch to hold a four-point lead.

An 8-0 Elmhurst run keyed by six straight points from
Fiona McMahon gave Elmhurst a 16-12 lead and the Bluejays never trailed for the remainder of the contest. Elmhurst slowly built an 11-point lead in the opening half and led 34-23 at the break. McMahon shot 7-of-9 in the half to score 14 for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst pushed its lead up to 13 early in the second half, but Beloit hung in, chipping Elmhurst's lead down to seven points on multiple occasions. Leading by seven with just under two minutes remaining,
Kalia Summerlin hit her second three-pointer of the game to give the Bluejays a double digit cushion and help the Bluejays pull away for the 10-point victory.

Elmhurst shot 42.1 percent (24-of-57) from the floor and struggled from downtown, hitting just 2-of-12 attempts (16.7 percent). The Bluejays were solid from the foul line, converting 19-of-23 attempts (82.6 percent). Elmhurst controlled the glass, outrebounding Beloit 44-22, including 18-4 on the offensive side. Elmhurst struggled with ball control, committing a season-high 26 turnovers in the win, leading to 20 points for Beloit.

Eppard paced the Bluejays in the victory, shooting 6-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the foul line to finish with 19 points. She added a game-high 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass. McMahon battled foul trouble in the second half to finish with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Melanie Schwerdtmann came off the bench to score nine while
Hannah Lipman and Summerlin totaled eight points apiece in the win.
Tiara Fitzpatrick totaled a game-high six assists in the victory.

Beloit shot 43.5 percent (20-of-46) from the floor, including 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from downtown. The Buccaneers struggled from the foul line, hitting just 15-of-25 attempts (60.0 percent).

Lana Wieseman led Beloit in the loss with 15 points and seven rebounds. Nora Polaski added 14 points while Laura Panicali finished with 12 points.
