ATLANTA, Ga. – Four players reached double figures in scoring to lead the Elmhurst women's basketball team to its third straight victory, a 76-61 win at Oglethorpe University.
 
Fiona McMahon scored the game's opening bucket in the first 32 seconds and Elmhurst never relinquished its lead for the duration of the game. The Bluejays led by three (14-11) midway through the half before an 8-1 run sparked by five points from 
Mikaela Eppard and a three-pointer from 
Kalia Summerlin put Elmhurst up by 10.
Oglethorpe answered back with a 7-0 run to pull to within three points with 4:34 left but the Bluejays closed the half on a 13-6 run to take a 38-28 lead in the locker room at halftime.
 
Mikaela EppardElmhurst started strong in the second half, extending its lead to 17 points on a jumper by Eppard with 11:24 left to play. Oglethorpe slowly chipped away at the lead with a 21-12 run, closing to within eight points after an Emily Buck three-pointer with three minutes left to play. A 7-0 run by the Bluejays over the next two minutes put the game away for Elmhurst.
 
The Bluejays shot 41.5 percent (27-of-65) from the floor, but only 25.0 percent (6-of-24) from beyond the arc. Elmhurst shot 16-of-21 (76.2 percent) from the free throw line. The Bluejays were also dominant on the glass, outrebounding Oglethorpe 49-30, including a 24-10 edge on the offensive glass. The Bluejays turned 24 offensive rebounds into 24 second-chance points. Elmhurst also chased on Oglethorpe's mistakes, scoring 23 points off the Stormy Petrels' 13 turnovers.
 
Eppard and Summerlin both reached career highs in scoring while leading the Bluejays to the victory. Eppard paced all scorers with 26 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 11-of-16 from the floor. Summerlin added a career-best 21 points, shooting 7-of-14 from the floor, including 6-of-13 from three-point range. She accounted for all six of Elmhurst's three-pointers in the win.
 
Kalia SummerlinMcMahon added 11 points and seven rebounds while 
Hannah Lipman also totaled a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. McMahon added three blocked shots while Lipman dished out a game-high seven assists.
 
Oglethorpe shot 36.8 percent (21-of-57) from the floor, including 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) from long distance. Kristen Kennebrew led the Stormy Petrels in the loss with 24 points. Buck chipped in with 17 points while Ciaira Hughes added 16 points and seven rebounds.
 
Elmhurst plays the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday, December 20.
