Elmhurst grabbed a 1-0 lead in the opening half on a penalty kick. Mike Emig was pulled down in the box and the Bluejays' took advantage of the Carthage foul. Michael Delong fired a shot past the diving Nick Huftalin of Carthage into the near corner.

Elmhurst led 1-0 at halftime and quickly extended their lead in the second. Elmhurst once again took advantage of a Carthage foul. Jeff Kading lifted a free kick into the box that was headed by Brad Yarwood back to Josh Rudd. Rudd knocked the pass out of midair and into the back of the net.

The Bluejays made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute when Yarwood connected on a goal. A long Elmhurst pass was headed away by a Carthage defender. The ball bounced between Emig and Yarwood and Yarwood fired the ball into the net for his second goal of the season.

Yarwood finished the contest with three points with a goal and an assist to lead the Bluejays' attack.

Carthage outshot Elmhurst 20-14 in the contest, but Elmhurst's defense allowed only five shots on goal and Bluejays' goalkeeper John Reglin stopped all five shots he faced, including a leaping second-half save on a Michael Dembrokwski free kick from the top of the box.

Reglin played 86 minutes in net for the Bluejays and stopped five shots while Nathaniel Pauer finished up the final few minutes of senior night. The combined shutout was the 11th shutout of the season for the Bluejays.

Elmhurst will travel to North Park University next week in the first round of the CCIW Tournament on Wednesday, November 5.
