Annie Duggan and 
Nicole Darga both went 2-0, but it was not enough as the Elmhurst women's tennis team lost a tight 5-4 contest to Millikin University.
The Big Blue (7-4, 2-4 CCIW) took two of the three doubles matches and split the six singles matches with the Bluejays (2-2, 1-6 CCIW).
Annie DugganIn doubles action, Millikin scored the first point of the day when Aubrie Sabin and Melissa Donovan defeated 
Hannah Vaselaney and 
Brittany Kuehn 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. The Bluejays pulled even with an 8-4 win at No. 1 from Darga and Duggan over Paige Bequette and Molly Angell. Millikin took a 2-1 advantage into singles with an 8-6 win from Amber Morgan and Elizabeth Breitbach at No. 3 doubles. The Millikin duo was victorious over Elmhurst's 
Lauren Kuehn and 
Alexis Adams.
 
Nicole DargaMillikin extended their lead by taking the first two singles matches. At No. 4, Brietbach was victorious over B. Kuehn 6-3, 6-2 and, at No. 3, Sabin took out Vaselaney 6-2, 6-1. With their backs against the wall, Elmhurst won the next two singles matches to pull within one. Darga of the Bluejays won 7-5, 6-3 over Bequette at No. 1 and Duggan defeated Angell 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2. With Millikin leading 4-3, the final two matches went to three sets. The Big Blue clinched the match at No. 6 singles when Morgan pulled off a comeback victory over 
Allie Moran 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. In the final match of the day, L. Kuehn scored a point for Elmhurst at No. 5 singles with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 
over Donovan.The Bluejays travel to Bloomington, Ill. for the CCIW Championships Thursday, October 16 through Saturday, October 18.
