Women's Soccer Edged by Illinois Wesleyan

ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's soccer team dropped a tight 2-1 contest to 25th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University on senior day.

The Titans found the net first in the 28th minute when Sydney Fox scored her 11th goal of the season. Rachel Westerkamp assisted as Illinois Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead.

The Bluejays equalized in the 55th minute when Shannon Pimmel scored off a failed clear attempt. The Titan defense hit the ball right to Pimmel 25-yards out and the Elmhurst senior midfielder blasted a low line drive shot that skipped inside the far post. It was Pimmel's first goal of the season.

With the score deadlocked, the Titans scored the game-winner off an Elmhurst failed clearing attempt. The ball was cleared to Amanda Kaiser on the right side. She hooked a looping shot past Elmhurst substitute goalkeeper Emily Gordon and inside the far upper 90.

The Bluejays were out shot 16-9 in the contest. Eight of Illinois Wesleyan's shots found the frame, while four of Elmhurst's chances were on goal.

Emily Gordon received the loss in goal for the Bluejays, saving two shots in just over 30 minutes of play after replacing Melinda Vickers, who stopped four shots. Illinois Wesleyan's Dana Jourdan stopped four Bluejays attempts.

Elmhurst, currently in a tie for fourth in the CCIW, will travel to North Park University Wednesday, October 29.
