WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst wrestling team slid to 1-10 on the season in dual meet competition after dropping three contests at the Border Brawl at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Elmhurst fell 38-9 to third-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater before dropping a 29-9 decision to 18th-ranked Cornell College. Elmhurst closed the tournament with a 24-18 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

WHITEWATER 38, ELMHURST 9 - UW-Whitewater won eight of the 10th contests en route to the 29-point victory. Elmhurst scored six points with a forfeit victory at 285 pounds. Nick DiNardo accounted for the Bluejays' remaining three points by scoring an 8-6 win over Cam Loomis at 157 pounds.

CORNELL 29, ELMHURST 9 - Elmhurst scored three victories in the 29-9 loss to Cornell. Omar Bey put the Bluejays on the scoreboard at 133 pounds with a 6-4 win over Phillip Opelt. Mike Ryan added a 13-6 win over Michael Marksimovic at 165 pounds. The highlight of the dual came at 285 pounds as a pair of top-10 wrestlers faced off. Elmhurst's Danny Vargas, ranked sixth in the nation, scored an 8-3 victory over seventh-ranked Carl Gaul.

STEVENS POINT 24, ELMHURST 18 - Elmhurst battled with Stevens Point but came up short as the Pointers won three of the final four matches to earn the six-point victory. Matt Quigley scored a 7-5 win over Jared Kust at 141 pounds. Mike Ryan pinned Logan Hermsen in 45 seconds at 165 pounds to even the dual meet score at 15-15. Back-to-back wins at 174 pounds and 184 pounds gave the Pointers a 21-15 lead in the dual. Elmhurst closed to within three points after Danny Balderas upset eighth-ranked Dustin Wozniak 3-1. The Pointers earned the victory with a 4-0 win by Jordan Koranda over Vargas.
