DECATUR, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with an 8-1 victory at Millikin University.
The Bluejays (1-0 CCIW) swept the three doubles matches and took five of the six singles contests en route to the win. Cassie Kovach and Annie Duggan opened doubles play with an 8-2 win over Paige Bequette and Meagan Booth at No. 1 doubles. Nicole Darga and Brittany Kuehn followed with an 8-0 shutout over Ryan Morgan and Amber Morgan. Elmhurst's duo of Jennifer Guenther and Kayla Mangiapane toppled Paige Ehrat and Erica Cornelius closed doubles play with an 8-5 win at No.3 doubles.
Kovach breezed to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Bequette at No. 1 singles while Duggan followed with a 6-1, 7-6 victory over Booth at No. 2 singles. Morgan scored Millikin's only point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Darga at No. 3 singles. Kuehn toppled Ehrat 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while Lauren Kuehn edged Cornelius in three sets at No. 5 singles (6-4, 1-6, 7-5). Guenther closed out singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout win over Morgan at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst welcomes St. Joseph's College and St. Norbert College on Sunday.
