ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team evened its season record at 4-4 by defeating North Central College 6-3 at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst (2-3 CCIW) scored a pair of wins in doubles competition.
Cassie Kovach and
Meg Griffin defeated Katie Drone and Kelsey Forkin 8-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Annie Duggan and
Nicole Darga followed with an 8-2 victory over Madeline Urban and Reynolds Cross at No. 2 doubles. The Cardinals' duo of Jenny Velasquez and Kassandra Bernardo defeated the Bluejays'
Jennifer Guenther and
Kayla Mangiapane 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Kovach opened with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Drone at No. 1 singles. Duggan dispatched Kayla Garcia 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Forkin upended Darga 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to give the Cardinals a point. Griffin toppled Urban 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 at No. 4 singles and
Ragan Wilson added a 6-3, 7-5 win over Velasquez at No. 5 singles. The Cardinals' Megan Marble defeated Mangiapane 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst hosts Augustana College on Sunday, September 29.
