KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team slipped to 3-4 on the season after suffering a 6-3 loss at Carthage College.
Elmhurst (1-3 CCIW) score one point in doubles play and two point in singles competition. Carthage upped its record to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in league play with the victory.
Cassie Kovach and
Nicole Darga upended Carthage's Abbi Howell and Eliza Barter 8-6 at No. 2 doubles to account for the Bluejays' point in doubles play. Carthage's Bari Reynolds and Haleigh McPeek downed Elmhurst's
Annie Duggan and
Meg Griffin 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. The Lady Reds' duo of Holly Weber and Kristen Kalinka downed Elmhurst's
Jennifer Guenther and
Kayla Mangiapane 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Kovach downed Reynolds 6-4, 7-6 at No. 1 singles while Griffin scored a 6-4, 7-5 win over Barter at No. 4 singles. Carthage scored wins from McPeek at No. 2 singles and Howell at No. 3 singles. McPeek downed Duggan 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles while Howell edged Darga in three sets (2-6, 6-1, 6-0) at No. 3 singles. Brittany Kuehn 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles while Kalinka toppled Guenther 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College on Wednesday, Spetember 25.
