Box Score WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst baseball team banged out 22 hits while hammering Carroll University 20-7.
Elmhurst (18-17) broke a scoreless tie in the third inning on an RBI ground out from
Tyler Facker and a run-scoring single from
Dave Wolak. The Bluejays opened up a 4-0 cushion in the fourth inning when
Greg Struck cracked a two-run homer.
Carroll (13-19) answered back with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to knot the score at 4-4, but the Bluejays broke the game open in the fifth with an eight-run outburst.
Luke Collins keyed the inning by belting a three-run homer while
Zach Tsiodras and
Tyler Wargo each recorded a two-run single.
The Bluejays tacked on two runs in the sixth on a two-run single from
Joseph Gray. Elmhurst put the game out of reach in the seventh inning with six runs.
Brian Marquis and Facker each recorded a two-run single while
Joe Kennedy and Wargo also drove home a run.
Every Elmhurst starter finished with at least one hit in the win. Wargo finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI while Kennedy was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI. Gray also had a three-hit day while scoring twice and driving in a pair. Facker added two hits and drove in three while
Brian Evans collected two hits and drove in three. Wolak, Marquis and Struck all finished with two hits and two RBI apiece.
Brennan McClung improved to 3-0 with the victory for the Bluejays. McClung worked five innings and scattered eight hits and six earned runs. He walked three while striking out two.
Joe Ramirez worked two scoreless innings in relief for the Bluejays while allowing just one walk.
