Box Score EUREKA, Ill. - Dave Wolak and
Tyler Wargo combined to drive in seven runs to lift the Elmhurst baseball team to a 13-7 road win at Eureka College.
Wolak finished 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles and a team-leading four runs and four RBI. Wolak collected a pair of doubles in the win and knocked in three runs for the Bluejays.
Eureka (8-9) jumped on the scoreboard first, scoring twice in the first. The Bluejays evened the score in the fourth on Wargo's RBI double. A wild pitch in the inning scored Wargo to even the score.
Elmhurst went on top in the sixth inning when Wolak roped his second double of the game and then scored on a Wargo grounder.
The Bluejays blew the game open in the seventh, scoring six runs on seven hits.
Joe Kennedy drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single. Wolak followed with a two-run single to give Elmhurst a five-run cushion.
Zach Tsiodras singled home a run and Wargo followed with a run scoring double to put Elmhurst on top 9-2.
Eureka added a run in the seventh, but the Bluejays tacked on four more runs in the eighth.
Chris Fisher doubled in a run before Wolak cracked his third double of the game to drive in two more.
Eric Stevenson added a sacrifice fly for the Bluejays' final run of the inning.
Eureka answered back with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Bluejays closed the door in the ninth to earn the six-run victory.
Kennedy and
Brian Cvitkovich added two hits apiece for the Bluejays in the win.
Brennan McClung upped his record to 2-0 on the season while picking up the win. McClung tossed 6.2 innings and allowed just three hits and two earned runs. He walked two and struck out five.
The Bluejays host Wheaton College on Wednesday (April10).
