Bluejays Drop 13-9 Slugfest to Concordia-Chicago

Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team dropped a 13-9 slugfest to Concordia University-Chicago to drop to 17-17 on the season.

Elmhurst led 4-2 after three innings on an RBI ground out from Dave Wolak in the first, a two-run homer from Luke Collins in the second, and a sacrifice fly from Brian Marquis in the third.

Concordia (28-5) broke the game open in the fourth inning by sending 11 men to the plate and scoring seven runs.

Elmhurst scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single off of Marquis' bat, but the Cougars responded with three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 12-5 lead.

Trailing 13-6 in the eighth inning, the Bluejays scored three runs on a Tyler Wargo RBI triple, a run-scoring double from Wolak and a Concordia error. With the three runs already in, the Bluejays loaded the bases with one out to bring the tying run to the plate, but a pop-out and a groundout ended the scoring threat and allowed Concordia to hold on for the win.

Bryan Baker made the start and took the loss for the Bluejays. Baker worked 4.1 innings and was charged with eight hits, eight earned runs and two walks.
