Bluejays Blanked By Titans

Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team was held to just five hits in a 2-0 loss at Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Bluejays fell to 12-11 overall and 4-6 in the CCIW with the loss while Illinois Wesleyan improved to 21-5 overall and remained perfect in the CCIW at 12-0.

The Titans scored an unearned run in the third to take a 1-0 lead on Zach Scott's RBI single. Matt Workman added an RBI single in the fifth to account for the Titans' final run.

Elmhurst struggled against Illinois Wesleyan's Nick Mehn, collecting only five hits. The Bluejays' best scoring chances came in the second inning when they left the bases loaded. Elmhurst also left a runner in scoring position in the eighth inning.

Brian Marquis suffered the loss from the mound for Elmhurst despite pitching well. Marquis tossed a complete game, limiting the Titans to just nine hits and one unearned run in eight innings.

Mehn went the distance for the Titans to earn the shutout win. He scattered five hits and three walks while fanning five.

The Bluejays host Wheaton College at Butterfield Park on Monday (April 15).
