Box Score SHERMAN, TEXAS - The Elmhurst men's basketball team scored its seventh consecutive victory with a 94-84 road win over Austin College.
Leading by two points midway through the opening half, Elmhurst (7-2) used a 17-6 run over the next five minutes to build a 13-point cushion. The Bluejays led by as many as 14 points in the half and led 46-35 at the half.
The Bluejays continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring Austin 35-18 over the first 14:30 to take a commanding 28-point lead. With Elmhurst's bench cleared, Austin closed the game on a 31-13 run to make the final score 94-84 in favor of the Bluejays.
Elmhurst used a balanced inside-outside attack to pick up the victory. Elmhurst shot a season-best 50.8 percent from the floor, hitting 30-of-59 attempts. The Bluejays also shot 77.1 percent (27-of-35) from the foul line. Elmhurst scored 40 points inside the paint and outrebounded Austin 51-35.
Kyle Wuest led the Bluejays in the victory, totaling a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds in the win. Wuest finishes 8-of-11 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
Will Nixon added 15 points and nine rebounds while shooting 7-of-9.
Nick Sanford and
Bryant Ackerman each totaled 15 points and seven rebounds apiece.
Austin (2-3) shot 35.0 percent (28-of-80) in the loss. Nearly half of the Roos shots came from behind the arc as the team shot 34.2 percent (13-of-38) from three-point range. Cody Myers came off the bench to score a team-leading 15 points. Kevin Graham added 13 points while Ransom Okpala scored 11.
Elmhurst travels to Stephen F. Austin University on Saturday, December 21.
