Men's Hoops Team Downed By Wheaton

Box Score WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's basketball team continues to search for its first CCIW victory after falling 77-52 at Wheaton College.

The seventh consecutive loss dropped the Bluejays to 4-14 on the season.

Wheaton (14-4, 4-3 CCIW) scored the game's first 11 points and quickly opened up a 19-point cushion. Elmhurst responded with a 12-0 run over the next three minutes to close to within seven points, but the Thunder countered by closing the half on a 10-5 run to lead 41-29 at the break.

Wheaton quickly score the first eight points of the second half to build a 20-point cushion. Elmhurst came no closer than 16 points for the remainder of the contest as the Thunder led by as many as 27 points and coasted to the 25-point victory.

Elmhurst finished the contest shooting 40.8 percent from the floor (20-of-49), but only 2-of-10 (20 percent) from downtown. A pair of Bluejays came off the bench to score 14 points apiece. Alex Morgunov matched his season-high with 14 points while shooting 6-of-7 from the field. He also pulled down a team-leading nine rebounds in the loss. Charles Glass shot 6-of-12 from the floor, including both of Elmhurst's three-pointers to score a season-high 14. Nick Sanford added 13 points for Elmhurst in the loss.

Wheaton shot 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from the field in the win. The Thunder were red-hot from three-point range, splashing home 11-of-21 attempts (52.4 percent). Tyler Peters paced the Thunder in the win, scoring a game-high 28 points while shooting 10-of-14. Michael Kvam came off the bench to add 14 points while Brayden Tuescher scored 13 points for the Thunder.
