WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team opened the 2012 season with a 9-0 loss at Wheaton College.

Wheaton (2-0, 2-0 CCIW) swept all six singles contests and the three doubles matches en route to the shut out win.

Sarah Ray downed Elmhurst's Annie Duggan 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Lauren Schlabach followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Elmhurst's Nicole Darga at No. 2 singles. Wheaton's Marissa Shults toppled Elmhurst's Lauren Kuehn 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Ragan Wilson suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss at No. 4 singles to Wheaton's Julia Carey. Wheaton's Julie Buursma downed Brittany Kuehn 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles while Erika Nelson closed singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Elmhurst's McKennah Lloyd.

In doubles play, Ray and Buursma toppled Brittany Kuehn and Darga 8-0. Shults and Melanie Milling topped Duggan and Lauren Kuehn 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. Schlabach and Nelson teamed to defeat Alexis Adams and Wilson 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Elmhurst travels to St. Norbert College for a triangular match on Saturday.
