ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team scored its first victory of the season by splitting a pair of CCIW matches at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Elmhurst opened the day with a 9-0 shutout win over Millikin University before falling 8-1 to Illinois Wesleyan University. Elmhurst moved to 1-8 overall and 1-5 in the CCIW.
ELMHURST 9, MILLIKIN 0 - The Bluejays scored their first win of the season in impressive style, shutting out Millikin University 9-0.
Annie Duggan opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Cydney Boyd at No. 1 singles.
Nicole Darga followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Brianna Hogan at No. 2 singles while
Lauren Kuehn downed Ashlee Colby 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Ragan Wilson upended Kelly Commons 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while
Brittany Kuehn defeated Madeline Knott 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Jennifer Guenther blanked Ashley Zozokos 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Darga and
Brittany Kuehn downed Boyd and Commons 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Duggan and
Lauren Kuehn defeated Colby and Hogan 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Wilson and Guenther closed doubles play with an 8-1 victory over Knott and Zozokos at No. 3 doubles.
ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 8, ELMHURST 1 - Illinois Wesleyan downed the Bluejays 8-1 after sweeping the six singles matches and taking two out of three doubles matches.
Duggan and
Lauren Kuehn defeated Lauren Drawbridge and Alissa Goetz 8-5 at No. 2 doubles to account for the Bluejays' only point.
