Box Score 2 ATLANTA, Ga. - The Elmhurst College volleyall team moved to 8-4 on the season after splitting a pair of matches at the Emory University Tournament.
Elmhurst opened the tournament with a 3-0 win over Williams before falling to to the sixth-ranked tournament host in four sets.
ELMHURST 3, WILLIAMS 0 - The Bluejays, ranked 12th in the latest AVCA national poll, opened the tournament with a 25-11, 25-21, 25-16 win over Williams.
Megan Reynolds led the Bluejays in the win with 12 kills and six blocks.
Kaitlyn Wilks finished with 10 kills while Antonéya Veasy Smith totaled nine kills and a pair of blocks.
Perrie Morgan led the squad in digs with 13 while
Marci Novak chipped in with 10.
Erin Thill finished with a team-leading 32 assists and added nine digs.
Sam Szarmach finished with a match-high four aces while also adding three blocks.
EMORY 3, ELMHURST 1 - Elmhurst suffered its fourth loss of the season falling, to sixth-ranked Emory in four sets (20-25, 14-25, 25-17, 20-25).
The Bluejays struggled on offense, finishing with 45 kills while committing 29 errors (.104 hitting percentage). Emory totaled 11 blocks while the Bluejays managed just two.
Reynolds paced the Bluejays in the loss with 11 kills and one block. Wilks and Veasy Smith finished with nine kills apiece while Novak totaled seven.
Erin Thill totaled 28 assists and a pair of aces. Morgan finished with a team-leading 19 digs while Novak totaled 13.
The Bluejays take on Travecca Nazarene University and Randolph Macon College tomorrow on the tournament's second day.
