NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team came up short in its quest for its first win of the season, falling 6-3 at North Central College.

Elmhurst slipped to 0-7 with the loss and 0-3 in CCIW play.

North Central won four singles matches and a pair of doules contests en route to the three-point win.

Elmhurst's Annie Duggan downed Jenny Velasquez 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and the Bluejays' Nicole Darga followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Katie Hatch at No. 2 singles. The Cardinals won the next four singles matches with Madeline Urban downing Lauren Kuehn 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Reynolds Cross defeating Ragan Wilson 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Rebecca Ross downed Brittany Kuehn 6-1, 7-5 at No. 5 singles while Kassandra Bernardo dispatched Jennifer Guenther 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Elmhurst's team of Duggan and Lauren Keuhn scored an 8-4 win over Velasquez and Urban at No. 2 doubles. The Cardinals' duo of Hatch and Cross downed Darga and Brittany Kuehn 8-5 at No. 1 doubles. Ross and Bernardo deafeated Wilson and Jennifer Guenther 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
