Box Score DECATUR, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team dropped its third straight game to Millikin University, falling to 4-4 in CCIW play after a 13-5 loss to the Big Blue.
Elmhurst (12-9 overall) grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second on RBI singles from
Tyler Wargo and
Brian Evans. The Bluejays pushed their lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning on a two-run single from Evans.
The Bluejays' lead was short lived as Millikin (7-16, 3-5 CCIW) plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth to knot the score at 4-4.
Brian Marquis smacked a solo homer in the fifth to put the Bluejays back on top.
A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh gave Millikin a 6-5 advantage.
The Bluejays' bullpen imploded in the eighth inning as five walks contributed to seven runs for the Big Blue. Jared Dosien delivered the crushing blow for Millikin, cracking a grand slam to help put the game away.
Evans recorded three of Elmhurst's nine hits and drove in three runs in the loss. Marquis and
Zach Tsiodras finished with two hits apiece while also scoring two runs each.
Dave Parr made the start and took the loss for the Bluejays. Parr (2-2) worked seven innings, surrendering nine hits and six runs (five earned). He walked one and fanned one.
Elmhurst will try to snap its three-game skid on Wednesday (April 11) when the Bluejays travel to Wheaton.
