Bluejays Sputter in 15-4 Loss at North Park

Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst baseball team dropped to 18-15 on the season after suffering a 15-4 setback at North Park University.

North Park (25-10, 10-6 CCIW) outscored the Bluejays 15-0 over the first six innings and dealt Elmhurst (9-7 CCIW) an 11-run loss in seven innings.

The Vikings scored three in the second and three in the third to open up a commanding 6-0 lead. North Park blew the game open in the fifth inning, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring seven runs. The Vikings tacked on two runs in the sixth to open up a 15-0 cushion.

The Bluejays ended the shutout in the in the seventh inning with a four-run outburst, making the final score 15-4 in favor of North Park.

Zach Hofer and Zach Tsiodras finished with two hits and an RBI apiece to lead the Bluejays' offense. Marc Shield and Tyler Wargo also drove in runs for the Bluejays.

Every North Park starter finished with a hit as the Vikings banged out 16 hits against the Bluejays.

Jordan Hanlon took the loss for Elmhurst, falling to 3-4 on the season. Hanlon surrendered 10 hits and six earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. He walked four and struck out three.

North Park ace Steve Kuligowski improved to 9-2 on the season with the win. Kuligowski allowed nine hits and four runs over seven innings. He walked five and fanned seven.

Elmhurst hosts North Park in a doubleheader tomorrow (April 28) at Butterfield. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
