Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team dropped to 15-11 on the season after falling 5-2 to Aurora University at Butterfield Park.
Aurora (22-6) scored a run in the second to take a quick 1-0 lead. The Bluejays answered right back in the bottom of the frame, scoring twice to take a 2-1 lead. With two on and one out,
Zach Hofer singled to load the bases.
Dave Wolak lifted a sacrifice fly to drive in
Brian Evans.
Marc Shield followed with a run-scoring single to put the Bluejays on top.
Aurora took advantage of an Elmhurst error in the sixth inning to score a pair of unearned runs and grab a 3-2 lead. A Josh Davidson two-run double in the eighth brought home a pair of insurance runs for the Spartans.
Hofer and
Brian Evans each recorded two hits, accounting for two-thirds of the Bluejays' offense.
Jeff Guzzi made the start for Elmhurst and took a no-decision. Guzzi worked four innings and allowed only three hits and one run wile walking three and striking out three.
Joe Ramirez took the loss in relief, surrendering five hits and four runs (two earned). He walked one and struck out two.
The Bluejays travel to Rockford College tomorrow (April 18).
