Bluejay Baseball Team Falls at 19th-Ranked Concordia-Chicago

Box Score RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 8-4 on the season after falling 7-4 to 19th-ranked Concordia University-Chicago.

Concordia (12-3) scored three times in both the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for the victory.

Elmhurst jumped on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Zach Tsiodras hit a sacrifice fly to score Jake Bronkema.

Bluejays' pitcher Dave Parr cruised through the first three innings and pitched out of a jam in the fourth before the Cougars took advantage of an Elmhurst error in the fifth. After the error extended the inning, Dan Eicholzer singled and Nick Skala followed with a two-out, three-run homer to put the Cougars on top 3-1.

Jeff Guzzi relieved Parr in the sixth, but Concordia tagged Guzzi for four runs in two innings of work, including three in the sixth, to take a 7-2.

Elmhurst scored a run in the seventh on a Dave Wolak RBI single. Tim Nolan blasted a solo homer in the eighth for the Bluejays and Brian Evans doubled home a run in the ninth t6o account for the Bluejays' remaining runs.

Evans led the Bluejays at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with an RBI. Wolak and Nolan collected two hits apiece in the loss.

Parr took the loss despite not surrendering an earned run. He worked five innings, scattering five hits and one walk while striking out three.

Elmhurst takes on Dominican University on Wednesday (March 28) at the Schaumburg Boomers' Stadium.
