Box Score ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's basketball team battled with 20th-ranked Augustana College before falling 71-61 to the host Vikings.

Elmhurst (11-12, 5-7 CCIW) traded baskets with Augustana (18-5, 8-4 CCIW) for the start of the contest until the Vikings ripped off a 14-2 run to build a 10-point cushion with just under seven minutes left in the opening half. Elmhurst pulled to within a point with 3:30 remaining, but the Vikings extended their lead to 37-31 at the half.

Augustana quickly built an eight-point second-half advantage before the Bluejays slowly began to chip away. D'Ante Foster splashed home a three-pointer midway through the half to even the score at 47-47. The Vikings responded with a 14-5 run over the next six minutes to open up a 61-52 lead with 4:36 left on the clock. The Bluejays managed to close to within six points, but the Vikings pulled away for the 10-point victory.

Elmhurst finished the contest shooting 42.3 percent (22-of-52) from the floor, including 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from beyond the arc. Jerome Robinson paced Elmhurst in the loss with a team-leading 17 points while shooting 7-of-8 from the floor. James Robertson totaled 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists while Zack Boyd added 10 points. Brandon Grubl finished with eight points while Foster came off the bench to score five and dish out a team-leading seven assists.

Augustana shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the floor, but just 26.1 percent (6-of-23) from three-point range. Bryant Voiles led the charge for Augustana with a double-double, totaling 20 points and 13 rebounds to go with a team-leading seven assists. Troy Rorer added 15 points and six rebounds while Kevin Schlitter came off the bench to score 10.

Elmhurst hosts Carthage College on Tuesday, February 14.
