Leading by four at the half, Elmhurst (7-5, 1-0 CCIW) opened up a six-point cushion early in the second half before North Park (4-8, 0-1 CCIW) pulled even at 47-47 with 12:20 left to play. The Bluejays quickly responded with a 9-1 run over the next 3:30 to open up a 56-48 lead. The Bluejays pushed their lead up to nine on a lay-up by Nick Sanford with 5:40 left to play.

Four straight points from the Vikings brought North Park to within five with 4:52 left, but a lay-up from Justin Phipps, a three-pointer from D'Ante Foster, and a three-point play from Nick Sanford helped the Bluejays pull away with a 13-point cushion. Elmhurst led by as many as 14 points and cruised for the final two minutes to earn the 12-point victory.

The Bluejays shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the floor, including 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from downtown. North Park finished the game shooting 44.6 percent (25-of-56), including 35.0 percent (7-of-20) from long range.

James Robertson led a balanced offensive attack for the Bluejays with a game-high 20 points. Robertson shot 6-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-8 from downtown. Foster added 17 points and three assists, hitting all three of his field goals from beyond the arc. Zack Boyd finished with 12 points and six rebounds while Sanford totaled 11 points and seven boards. Jerome Robinson chipped in with eight points for the Bluejays.

Mark Holmes paced the Vikings in the loss, scoring a game-high 23 points while shooting 8-of-18 from the floor. Mike Gabriel added 15 points for the Vikings while Roshawn Russell scored 11.
