ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 shutout loss to Wheaton College in the Bluejays' season-opening match at Brune Tennis Courts.

Wheaton (2-0) swept all six singles matches and won all three doubles contests en route to the 9-0 win.

Wheaton's Elizabeth Worsowicz toppled Virginia Dallman 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. The Thunder's Sarah Ray blanked Elmhurst's Stephanie Ruff 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while Wheaton's Kristen Boyer downed Nicole Darga 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Elmhurst's Jordyn Hoover suffered a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Lauren Schlabach at No. 4 singles while the Bluejays' Kayla Magiapane was defeated 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles by Marissa Shults. Whaton's Julia Carey blanked Jennifer Guenther 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Ray and Worsowicz defeated Dallman and Darga 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Schlabach and Shults upended Hoover and Ruff 8-3 at No. 2 singles. Wheaton's duo of Boyer and Carey defeated the Bluejays' pair of Emily Tarlini and Ragan Wilson 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to finish the sweep.

Elmhurst hosts Augustana College at St. Norbert College in a doubleheader on Saturday, September 10.
