ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team fell to 1-6 on the season after falling 5-4 to North Central College.

North Central (5-2, 2-1 CCIW) took four of the six singles matches while Elmhurst won two of the three doubles contests.

In doubles play, the Bluejays' duo of Stephanie Ruff and Jordyn Hoover upended Cory Schillerstrom and Katie Hatch 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Kayla Magiapane and Jennifer Guenther followed with an 8-6 win over Margaret Youel and Reynolds Cross at No. 2 doubles. North Central's team of Madeline Urban and Stephanie Brunetti upended Nicole Darga and Emily Tarlini 9-8 at No. 3 doubles.

Schillerstrom rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory over Ruff at No. 1 singles. Elmhurst's Darga toppled Youel 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Hoover scored a 6-4, 6-2 win over Hatch at No. 3 singles. The Cardinals swept the final three singles spots to earn the team victory. Urban downed Magiapane 6-, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while Brunetti followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tarlini at No. 5 singles. Cross closed out the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Guenther at No. 6 singles.

The Bluejays host Webster University and Saint Joseph's College on September 24.
