Baseball Team Falls at North Central 7-2

The Elmhurst College baseball team dropped to 12-16 overall and 2-12 in the CCIW following a 7-2 loss at North Central College.

Elmhurst got off to a fast start, leading 2-0 after the first two batters of the game. Brian Evans drew a leadoff walk to open the game, and Tyler Wargo followed with a two-run home to give the Bluejays a 2-0 lead.

Elmhurst's Dave Parr held North Central (17-8, 11-4 CCIW) off the scoreboard fort the first five innings, but the Cardinals surged in front in the sixth. The Cardinals plated four runs in the sixth, scoring on a wild pitch, a Tom Ross RBI single, and a pair of sacrifice flies. The Cardinals tacked on three insurance runs in the eighth to pull away for the five-run victory.

North Central's Michael McGrath picked up the victory for the Cardinals. After allowing two runs in the first inning, McGrath held the Bluejays for the next six innings, allowing only three base runners for the finals six innings. McGrath worked eight innings and allowed just four hits and three walks. He struck out four in the win.

Parr took the loss for Elmhurst, scattering nine hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out four.

Elmhurst hosts the University of Chicago on Tuesday, April 26.
