Bluejay Baseball Team Blanks Benedictine-Springfield

MESA, Ariz. - The Elmhurst College baseball team ran its record to 5-1 on the season by blanking Benedictine University-Springfield in a rain-shortened five-inning game at the RussMatt Tournament in Arizona.

Elmhurst took advantage of a Benedictine-Springfield (3-8) error to score the game's only run. With Dave Wolak standing on second, Dan Bosco reached on an infield singe. The throw to first sailed wide, allowing Wolak to come around and score for the Bluejays. 

Rain brought a halt to the game in the top of the sixth inning and the game was called, giving the Bluejays the 1-0 victory.

Bosco recorded a pair of hits for the Bluejays, including a double. He also stole a base in the win. Wolak reached base twice and stole two bases while also scoring the game's only run.

Freshman Dave Parr scored his second win of the season by tossing the a complete game shutout. He worked all five innings and allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out two. 

Elmhurst continues play at the RussMatt Tournament by facing John Hopkins University on March 22.
