Men's Hoops Team Rolls Past Albion 75-56

ELMHURST, Ill. -
The Elmhurst College men's basketball team upped its season record to 6-4 by toppling Albion College 75-56 at R.A. Faganel Hall.

Trailing by one midway through the opening half, the Bluejays seized control of the game with a 21-7 run to open up a 34-21 cushion with two minutes left in the half. The Bluejays carried a 36-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Elmhurst continued to pull away in the second half, leading by double digits for nearly the entire second half. The Bluejays pushed their lead to as many as 21 points and cruised to the 19-point victory.

Jerome Robinson led a balanced scoring attack for the Bluejays by dropping in a team-leading 16 points while shooting 7-of-12 from the floor. He added six rebounds in the victory. Brandon Grubl came off the bench to score 12 while Nick Sanford Chipped in with 11 points. James Robertson and Justin Phipps scored eight points apiece. Ten different Bluejays totaled points in the Elmhurst win.

Albion (4-5) was led by Kolin Kazen's 16 points and six rebounds. Lawrence Ridgell added nine points while Mike Smith scored seven for the Britons.

Elmhurst finished the game shooting 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the file, including 30.8 percent (4-of-13) from three-point range. The Bluejays controlled the glass, outrebounding Albion 38-27. Elmhurst pulled down 19 offensive rebounds leading to 13 second-chance points.

Albion finished the contest shooting 36.7 percent (18-of-49) from the floor while struggling from beyond the arc (2-of-17).

Elmhurst wraps up non-conference play by hosting Washington University (Mo.) on December 30.
