After both teams were forced to punt, Augustana took over at their own five-yard line after Joe Furco's 50-yard punt. The Vikings drove into Elmhurst territory and David Lee hit Zac McCullough on a 34-yard strike to give the Vikings a first-and-goal from the Elmhurst 10-yard line. After a pass interference penalty moved the ball to the two-yard line, Lee hit A.J. Hoger on a two-yard score to pull the Vikings to within a point. Augustana elected to go for the win, on a fake extra-point attempt, but Danny Hess' two-pass attempt failed.
