CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Elmhurst College wrestling team, ranked 22nd in the latest NWCA Division III poll, suffered a pair of dual meet losses at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals hosted by the University of Northern Iowa.

Elmhurst (7-2), seeded 12th at the tournament, suffered a 24-12 loss to fifth-ranked Coe College in the opening round. The Bluejays were knocked out of the consolation bracket following a 24-18 loss to 25th-ranked Delaware Valley College.

In the loss to Coe, the Bluejays scored four victories in the 10 matches. Ben Salabura downed Drew Hinschberger's 8-6 at 133 pounds to give Elmhurst its first points of the dual. Ryan Earley toppled Coe's Johnny Siegel 7-2 at 149 pounds to pull Elmhurst to within a point in the dual after just four matches. Coe won matches at 157, 165, and 174 pounds to open up a commanding 21-6 lead. Joe Rau added a 2-0 victory over Coe's Seth Rehn at 184 pounds. Mark Corsello, ranked second in the nation at 285 pounds, closed out the dual for the Bluejays with a 4-0 win over seventh-ranked Alex Burkle of Coe.

Delaware Valley won five of the first six matches to build a 21-3 advantage. Elmhurst's only win in the first six matches came when Jake Denhof toppled Zach Haynes 6-4 at 133 pounds. The Bluejays' Frank Savegnago pinned Juan Vega in 3:57 at 174 pounds to bring Elmhurst to within 12 points. Rau made short work of Jacob Phillips at 184 pounds, pinning the Delaware Valley grappler in just 1:50. Rau's win moved the Bluejays to within six points of Delaware Valley with two matches remaining. Aaron Karns scored a 2-0 victory at 197 pounds to secure the win for Delaware Valley. Corsello closed out the dual by edging Cody Gardner 9-8 to make the final score 24-18. 

Elmhurst hosts the Al Hanke Invitational on Saturday, January 15.
