WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team scored a pair of victories at the Border Brawl hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Bluejays blanked UW-Eau Claire 43-0 and then upended eighth-ranked UW-Stevens Point 22-15. 

Elmhurst started the day by blanking UW-Eau Claire 43-0. Tom Laskowske started the dual with a 17-4 major decision over Neil Manns. Jake Denhof followed with an 18-3 technical fall over UW-Eau Claire's Steven Fisher at 133 pounds. At 141 pounds, Elmhurst's Larry Baca pinned Brian Reier in 2:27 to give Elmhurst a 15-0 lead. Ryan Earley followed with a 25-10 technical fall over Josh Baier at 149 pounds. Mike Grice earned an 11-0 major decision over Levi Polus at 149 pounds and Yousef Al-Ghoul followed with a 3-1 victory over Ricky Gonzalez at 165 pounds. At 174 pounds, Frank Savegnago earned a 23-6 technical fall over UW-Eau Claire's Keith Dawson. Joe Rau pinned Matthew Rieckhoff in 2:09 at 184 pounds. Elmhurst's Mike McNeil followed with an 8-5 win over Luke Ortscheid at 197 pounds. Mark Corsello closed out the dual for the Bluejays with a 15-4 major decision over Joe Pitsch at 285 pounds.

In the Bluejays' win over eight-ranked UW-Stevens Point, Laskowske started the dual by pinning Brad Keuhn in 1:26. Baca added a 16-0 technical fall over Shane Sweeney at 141 pounds to give Elmhurst an 11-3 lead. Three straight victories for the Pointers at 149, 157, and 165 pounds gave UW-Stevens Point a 12-11 lead. 

Savegnago put Elmhurst back on top by scoring a 6-0 win over Ryan Conat at 174 pounds. Rau followed with a 10-1 major decision over Coulter Nyenhuis at 184 pounds to give Elmhurst an 18-12 lead. UW-Stevens Point's Chad Gregory pulled the Pointers to within three points with a 5-4 win over McNeil at 197 pounds. Corsello sealed the win for the Bluejays by defeating ninth-ranked Steve Wozniak by a 10-2 major decision.
