ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College men's basketball team slipped to 6-9 overall following a 75-55 loss at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Illinois Wesleyan (12-3, 3-1 CCIW) used a pair of runs in the second half to break open a tie and pull away from the Bluejays.

The Bluejays led 20-15 midway through the opening half, but the Titans used a 16-0 run over the next six minutes to open up a 31-20 advantage. Illinois Wesleyan led 35-27 at the break.

Elmhurst started the second half on an 8-0 run to quickly knot the score at 35-35, but Illinois Wesleyan responded with its own 9-0 run to take a 44-35 lead with 15:36 remaining. IWU pushed its lead up to 17 points and then pulled away for the 75-55 victory.

Elmhurst shot only 35.1 percent (9-of-26) from the floor, including 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from downtown. James Robertson scored a season-high 14 points to lead the Bluejays in the loss. Steve Crane added nine points and seven rebounds in the loss while Zack Boyd chipped in with nine points.

Illinois Wesleyan shot 63.0 percent (29-of-46) from the field, including 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three-point range. Thee Titans dominated inside, scoring 36 of their points in the paint. 

Sean Johnson poured in a game-high 28 points while shooting 11-of-14 from the floor. He added seven assists and six rebounds in the win. Doug Sexauer added 18 points for the Titans in the win.

Elmhurst hosts North Park University on Wednesday, January 19.
