WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team slipped to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in CCIW competition following a 9-0 shutout loss to Wheaton College.

Wheaton (9-0, 6-0 CCIW) remained undefeated with the victory.

Elizabeth Worsowicz downed Elmhurst's Virginia Dallman 7-6 (7-0) 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Sara Federschmidt downed Stephanie Ruff 6-0, 6-0 at No.2 singles. Wheaton's Lindsey Hallet blanked Rebecca Davis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Sarah Ray followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Elmhurst's Alex Stark at No. 4 singles. Kristen Boyer (6-0, 6-0 win over Alexis Ross) and Marissa Shults (6-0, 6-1 win over Emily Tarlini) added victories for the Thunder at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. 

In doubles play, Worsowicz and Federschmidt downed Dallman and Ruff 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Hallett and Shults combined to down Stark and Davis 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Boyer and Ray paired to defeated the tandem of Ross and Tarlini 8-1 at No. 3 singles. 

Elmhurst competes at the ITA Regional Tournament in St. Louis on October 1-3.
