ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team saw its record dip to 4-4 overall and 1-3 in CCIW play following a 7-2 loss to Carthage College at the Brune Tennis Courts.
Carthage (5-2, 3-2 CCIW) won five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles contests to earn the victory.
Carthage's Hollis McPeek scored a 6-2, 6-0 win over Elmhurst's
Virginia Dallman at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Elmhurst's
Stephanie Ruff fell to Bari Reynolds 6-1, 6-2 while Carthage's Kristina Naidicz toppled
Rebecca Davis 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Elmhurst's
Alex Stark dropped a close 3-6, 6-4, 8-10 decision to Kelsey Bowen at No. 4 singles. The Lady Reds' Amanda Bizub downed
Alexis Ross 6-4, 6-2 at No. 5 singles.
Emily Tarlini scored Elmhurst's only point in singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Holly Weber at No. 6 singles.
In doubles competition, McPeek and Naidicz defeated Dallman and Ruff 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Reynolds and Bizub followed with an 8-4 victory over Davis and Stark and No. 2 doubles for the Lady Reds. At No. 3 doubles, Elmhurst's Ross and Tarlini teamed for an 8-4 triumph over Weber and Kaitlyn Farrell.
Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan University on September 21.
