Nick Herrera and
Vince Mathe have both earned all-region accolades. Herrera was named to the all-region third team, while Mathe was named to the all-region gold glove squad.
Herrera, a senior outfielder/catcher, was named to the all-region third team at catcher. He was recently named to the CCIW's all-conference second team as a utility player. He led the Bluejays in batting, posting a .399 average. He totaled a team-leading 59 hits, 84 total bases, 36 runs scored, and 36 RBI. He also led the team in extra-base hits (16) while ranking second on the squad in doubles. In CCIW contests, Herrera hit .382 with 31 hits in 81 at-bats. He drove in 19 runs and scored 20 in conference contests.
In two seasons with the Bluejays, he posted a .385 average, the fifth-highest career average in Elmhurst history. He finished with career totals of 10 home runs, 22 doubles, 70 runs scored and 76 RBI in just two seasons. His .604 slugging percentage is the seventh highest in Elmhurst history.
Mathe, a senior shortstop, started all 39 games for the Bluejays in 2010. He committed just seven errors in 181 chances to finish with a .961 fielding percentage. In addition to his solid play defensively, Mathe also had a strong year at the plate, hitting .318 while ranking second on the team in both runs scored (35) and RBI (29).
A three-year starter for the Bluejays at shortstop, Mathe closed out his career with a .267 batting average and committed just 10 errors over his final two seasons.
