KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 3-12 overall and 0-3 in the CCIW following an 8-7 loss at Carthage College.

Carthage led 4-1 after three innings by scoring two runs in the first and two in the third, but the Bluejays captured a 5-4 lead by scoring four times in the fourth inning. Vince Mathe and Joe Kennedy both had RBI singles while Marc Shield drove in a pair of runs with a two-run single in the fourth. 

Carthage reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a three-run frame. Elmhurst scored a run in the eighth and tied the game on a run-scoring wild pitch in the top of the ninth, but Carthage won the game on a walk-off Tyler Eichmeyer single in the bottom of the ninth. 

Shield led the Bluejays by finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Mathe finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two driven in.

Alex Bruneau made the start and took a no-decision. Bruneau allowed seven runs and 11 hits in 6.1 innings of work. Joe Ramirez took the loss in relief, allowing three hits and one run in 1.2 innings pitched.
