De PERE, Wis. - The Elmhurst College men's basketball team team fell to 0-3 on the season following a 74-48 loss to 10th-ranked St. Norbert College.
St. Norbert (3-0) led from start to finish and never trailed in the contest. The Green Knights scored the game's first five points and built a 35-23 lead at halftime.
St. Norbert continued to pull away in the second half, scoring the first eight points of the half to take a 43-23 lead. The Bluejays managed to chip the lead down to 15 points, but St. Norbert used a 24-11 run to open up a 28-point lead with less than a minute to play.
Elmhurst shot 39.6 percent (19-of-48) from the floor, but just 27.3 percent (3-of-11) from three-point range. St. Norbert hit 51.0 percent (26-of-51) of its shots, including 33.3 percent (6-of-18) from long distance. The Green Knights also maintained a 32-27 edge in rebounds.
Sean Fendley came off the bench to score 12 points and lead the way for the Bluejays.
Zack Boyd added 10 points and three rebounds while
Mike McCurdy and
Steve Crane totaled six points apeice.
David Wipperfurth paced the Green Knights, scoring 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Chris Peterson added nine points while Steve Papke and Paul Appleton totaled seven points apiece. Thirteen different players scored points for St. Norbert in the win.
Elmhurst will look to snap its three-game skid on Wednesday, December 1, when the Bluejays travel to Olivet College.
