BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College baseball team fell to 8-6 overall and 0-3 in CCIW play following a doubleheader loss at Illinois Wesleyan University. The Bluejays dropped game one 12-3, and fell in the nightcap 5-3.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 12, ELMHURST 3 (Game One) - Elmhurst led 2-1 after an inning, but Illinois Wesleyan blew the game open by plating seven runs in the second inning.

The Titans outhit Elmhurst 16-8 in the contest.

Nick Herrera recorded two of the Bluejays' eight hits in the loss. Zach Hofer drove in Elmhurst's only RBI in the game.

Cody Boals took the loss for Elmhurst, allowing 12 hits and nine runs in five innings of work. He walked three and struck out two.

Casey McIntosh drove in five runs for the Titans, including four on a grand slam in the second inning.

Pat Kirchhoffer earned the victory for IWU, pitching seven innings and scattering six hits and three walks. He allowed just two earned runs while fanning eight batters.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 5, ELMHURST 3 (Game Two) - The Titans jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after two innings and never looked back, limiting Elmhurst to just six hits in the contest.

Brett Lilley and Hofer recorded two hits apiece in the Bluejays' loss. Hofer and Joey Natale each drove in a run.

McIntosh powered the Titans by finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI. Mike Morrisey added two hits, an RBI, and scored a pair of runs for IWU.

Joe Luft took the loss for Elmhurst, surrendering five runs and nine hits in 6.1 innings. He walked four and struck out two.

Elmhurst continues CCIW play by traveling to Augustana College on Tuesday, March 31.
