MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Elmhurst College baseball team slipped to 2-2 on the season after dropping a doubleheader to Macalester College. Elmhurst dropped game one 8-1, and fell in the night cap 10-7.

MACALESTER 8, ELMHURST 1 (Game One) - The Bluejays slipped to 2-1 overall following an 8-1 loss to Macalester. The Bluejays were held to just five hits over the seven inning contest.

Macalester banged out 11 hits in the contest, and tagged Elmhurst starter Joe Luft (0-1) for seven hits and six earned runs in 2.2 innings of work.

MACALESTER 10, ELMHURST 7 (Game Two) - Elmhurst slipped to 2-2 on the season after the Bluejays' seventh-inning rally fell just short.

Trailing 10-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, The Bluejays pushed home four runs and brought the winning run to the plate but came up short in their rally attempt. With one out, Dan Matkovic smacked a solo homer to left field. Schrader followed with a double. After a walk and an infield single by Herrera loaded the bases, Zach Hofer ripped a two-run double to left field. An RBI single by Dan Bosco made the score 10-7. A hit batter loaded the bases and brought the winning-run to the plate, but a double play ended the Bluejays' scoring chances.

Hofer, Bosco, and Matkovic all drove in two runs apiece while Steve Hagstrom smacked his first collegiate home run, in the loss.

Kevin Capps (0-1) suffered the loss for Elmhurst, surrendering seven runs and six hits over two innings.
